You have done all the creative writing. Now, it's time to edit. Editing requires open communication between editor and author. My goal is to tighten, clarify, and enhance your manuscript. I use the Chicago Manual of Style as the backbone of editing; however, I never edit at the expense of a particular writing style or technique.
Proofread
$.005 per word
Proofreading is the process of checking a manuscript for typos, repeated words, spelling errors, proper word usage, and punctuation. Proofreading is performed at the end of the writing and editing process.
Copy Edit
$.007 per word
This service is for manuscripts that have already been refined based on beta reader or critique partner comments and/or have been through a content edit. I review for punctuation, spelling, grammar, passive voice, tense changes, repetition, word usage, clarity, and continuity. Issues with point of view and logic will be noted as well. This service includes two rounds of copy editing, with the author reviewing between rounds.
Content Edit

Content Edit focuses on pace, characterization, dialogue, structure, theme, point of view, and world building during the first round of edits. The second round, after author rewrites, focuses on punctuation, spelling, grammar, passive voice, tense changes, repetition, word usage, clarity, and continuity. Issues with point of view and logic will be noted as well.
Blurb Editing

This service is included at no cost to clients who have booked an editorial or proofreading service.
All editorial services are performed in Microsoft Word with Track Changes.
All manuscripts are edited in US English; however, if you've written in non-US English (e.g., British English), please let me know before I begin editing.
A deposit of 25% of the project total is required to hold a slot on my calendar, and 25% is due prior to beginning edits. One invoice is sent for this amount, but only half is due until edits are scheduled to begin. The final balance (50%) is due when editing is completed and the manuscript is returned to you. Invoices are sent and payments are made via PayPal. A surcharge of 5% is added to the total to compensate for automatic PayPal fees.
